BoxingScene.com has received confirmation from Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser to WBO interim-lightweight champion Michael Katsidis, that Golden Boy Promotions has approached him to make deal for a fight with WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan on July 31 in England.

Two weeks ago, Khan made his American debut in New York City and stopped former champion Paulie Malignaggi in eleven rounds. On the same day at Upton Park in West Ham, London, Katsidis had a successful defense of his interim-title with an impressive three round stoppage of previously undefeated Kevin Mitchell before an estimated crowd of 17-20,000 fans. Katsidis and former champion Joel Casamayor are the two current frontrunners to fight Khan in July.

"I have been approached by [Golden Boy CEO] Richard Schaefer [about Khan]. Right now we are still focused on fighting the winner of Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz [on July 31]. But, a fight with Khan is possible if a substantial reward, deserving of a fighter like Katsidis, is involved. But I want to advise them, this reward will come with a heavy price because Khan will end up in the same fashion as Mitchell. Nobody will draw more people against Khan in England, and Europe, than Michael Katsidis. Michael is undefeated against British fighters and Khan's name will be added on the list next to Mitchell and [Graham] Earl," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.
