Promoter Gary Shaw was deeply touched that his fighter, junior middleweight Alfredo Angulo, had "In Loving Memory of Papi Shaw" sewn into his trunks for Saturday's fight with Joel Julio. Shaw's father passed away a few weeks ago. Shaw also revealed that Angulo left his training camp to attend the elder Shaw's funeral and to be by his promoter's side.

"No fighter has ever done that. Angulo is a special fighter but is an even more special person outside of the ring," Shaw said. The promoter and fighter share a close father-son bond that is unlike most promoter-fighter relationships.

Shaw said that he expects Angulo to return to the ring this fall.  It depends on what date HBO gives him.  When asked about Angulo fighting a rematch versus Kermit Cinrron, Shaw said he had no problem making the fight but feels there are bigger fights for Angulo.

"We would fight Cintron in a minute but I think there are bigger fights for Perro. If Cotto beats Yuri Foreman I would make that fight in a heart beat if Top Rank (Cotto's promoter) wants to do it. I would also love to do a fight with [Antonio] Margarito if he gets licensed to fight again." Shaw went on to say an Angulo-Margarito fight would have to take place on U.S. Soil and that he wouldn't want to go around the California Athletic Commission to make a fight in Mexico."
