Polish heavyweight Tomasz Adamek spoke with The Times about his reason for turning down an offer to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Adamek said an offer came his way last year when David Haye withdrew from a September fight with Vitali. Adamek fights Chris Arreola on April 24.

"It was almost a year ago. I got an offer three weeks before the fight. I'm not afraid of a tought fight, but I go  into the ring to win, and not just to earn money. At the time I wasn't ready to fight an opponent like Klitschko. God willing our paths will cross one day," Adamek said.

Adamek said his promoter recently spoke with Haye's manager Adam Booth. He doesn't know the details of the conversation. Haye might be looking for Adamek if he beats Arreola.

"First, I must meet with Arreola. I know that my promoter discussed something with Haye's manager, but the details are unknown to me," Adamek said.
