At the International Convention Centre in East London, South Africa, Nkosinathi Joyi (21-0, 15KOs) dominated previously undefeated Raul Garcia (27-1-1, 16KOs) to win the IBF minimumweight title. The scores were 119-109, 119-110 and 118-110.

According to a ringside report from Sabelo Skiti, Joyi's speed and defense was a winning combination. Garcia had no answers. By the fourth round, Garcia's face was a bloody mess from a cut that he suffered above his right eye. Joyi punished him until the final bell. Garcia was praised for his heart. Even though he was being outclassed in almost every round, he stood in there until the very end.

Joyi's promoter Branco Milenkovic was very happy with his fighter's victory. He spent a decent sum at the purse bids to bring the fight to South Africa and told reporters it was well worth the money.
