Undefeated welterweight prospect Saul Alvarez (30-0-1, 22KOs) may fight none other than Matthew Hatton (37-4-2, 14KOs) on the pay-per-view undercard to Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Golden Boy Promotions vice president Eric Gomez said Hatton was a very strong possibility but there were others in the running if Hatton turned the fight down.

"They wanted quality fights and that's what were are going to give them. Mathew Hatton is a very viable option, but we have other possibilities as well," Gomez said.

Alvarez's team continue to ask Golden Boy for a shot at Mayweather. Gomez doesn't see the fight taking place this year but could be a possible fight in the future. From a marketing position, Alvarez-Hatton would make sense by attracting a large Mexican and British audience to the event.
