Dominick Guinn's promoter Lou DiBella has blasted Wladimir Hrynov, the manager of heavyweight Alexander Povetkin, over his recent comments that appeared on BoxingScene.com. Hrynov denied published reports which had Guinn fighting Povetkin on March 13 in Berlin, Germany, and dismissed the information as rumors.

“We have in view other boxers with better records who hold high positions in the world ratings," - said Hryunov to the website for the Russian Professional Boxing Federation.

DiBella told BoxingScene that Povetkin-Guinn was no rumor. He reached a financial agreement with Sauerland Event. He is shocked that Povetkin's manager denied the reports.

"I was contacted by representatives of Sauerland Promotions. These are not rumors. I was contacted and in fact had a negotiation over money that was completed. Based upon Povetkin's recent opposition, Leo Nolan being a prime example - what crap heap did they pull him off of? - Dominick is obviously too competent for them. They shouldn't be calling people and causing fighters to anticipate opportunities and negotiate money - when they are just jerking people off. If they don't fight Dominick, it's because they are afraid of taking one iota of risk," DiBella said to BoxingScene.com.

According to DiBella, if he was made aware of this information earlier, he would have sent Guinn to Florida to replace the incarcerated Oliver McCall in Tuesday's cancelled fight against Zuri Lawrence.

"Had I been informed of this earlier, Dominick might have been on an airplane to appear in the main event at the Hard Rock in Florida. Obviously Povetkin's manager is a rocket scientist. It makes an awful lot of sense to fight stumblebums before you are going to challenge the best heavyweight in the world," DiBella said.

"I find it particular puzzling since Povetkin is actually a damn good fighter who would only benefit from facing real opposition prior to the biggest challenge of his career. For his manager to act like this is a baseless rumor, suggested that he was either kept in the dark or is a f**king liar. It's a shame that Dominick Guinn has to find out about it this way."
