The WBA’s investigation of the scoring in the Beibut Shumenov-Gabriel Campillo rematch is moving forward. Sources in Panama advised BoxingScene.com that the WBA will send a tape of the rematch to a panel of judges in Puerto Rico, Panama and Europe. The WBA wants all three panels to review the fight and submit their thoughts on the scoring. Once the WBA receives all three reports, they will render an official decision on what they plan to do.

Campillo dominated Shumenov during their rematch on January 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada – but two of the three official judges scored the fight for Shumenov. Patricia Jarman 117-111 and Jerry Roth 115-113, were in favor of Sumenov. Campillo won the fight on the scorecard of Levi Martinez 117-111, who was the only judge approved by the WBA to work that fight.
