On Monday afternoon, BoxingScene.com reached out to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer to discuss a few newsworthy items.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr. II Pay-Per-View:

Schaefer advised BoxingScene that Hopkins-Jones will likely move from the planned date of April 17, and land on the tentative date of April 3. Schaefer is still speaking with HBO to secure the network's involvement with the show.

Junior welterweight contender Victor Ortiz:

Ortiz will headline Golden Boy's February edition of the "Fight Night Club” series at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. The event is scheduled for February 25 and Fox Sports Net will televise. If everything goes as planned, Ortiz will likely return to HBO in the month of May.

Mexican welterweight star Saul Alvarez:

Schaefer denies the widespread reports in Mexico that had Alvarez pegged as a serious consideration to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in March. Given the right amount of time and proper seasoning, Schaefer could see Alvarez as a possibility for Mayweather in the future. Alvarez is only 19-years-old and the kid has 30 fights under his belt. A hot ticket seller in Mexico, but he needs the proper introduction to the American public.

"Maybe down the road he might be a possibility. He's a star in Mexico, but I think they need to bring him here and put him on a few cards to get exposure," Schaefer said.

Mayweather-Mosley:

Schaefer plans to work around the clock to make this fight a reality. It's the right fight at the right time. The potential mega-event had the perfect intro last September when Mosley confronted Mayweather on a live pay-per-view as he was being interviewed by HBO's Max Kellerman in the aftermath of Floyd's dominating win over Juan Manuel Marquez. Mayweather-Marquez generated a pay-per-view buyrate of over 1 million, so a lot of eyes were watching the post-fight drama.

When BoxingScene asked Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum for his thoughts on Mayweather-Mosley, he said "fans want to watch compelling fights and if you are asking me for my opinion, I have to be honest and say that Mayweather vs. Mosley is a compelling fight."
