At the Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, Toshiaki Nishioka (35-4-3, 21KOs) retained the WBC super bantamweight title with a third round stoppage of Ivan "Choko" Hernandez (25-4-1, 15KOs). Nishioka keeps his win streak going after retaining the title in impressive fashion earlier in the year with a three round knockout of Jhonny Gonzalez.

Hernandez tried his best to trade punches and make it a brawl with Nishioka but he didn't come out for the fourth round after telling his corner that his jaw might be broken. The fight was then stopped.
