BoxingScene.com has received a copy of a lawsuit recently filed by trainer Bouie Fisher against his former student Bernard Hopkins. The legal documents, dated September 18, 2009, were filed a few days ago in a Philadelphia federal court. Fisher, the long-time ex-trainer of Hopkins, claims the fighter owes him money from his fights with Oscar De La Hoya, Jermain Taylor and Howard Eastman. Fisher is looking to recover $200,496, plus interest and liquidated damages of 25%.

Fisher trained Hopkins from 1989 to 2002 and then from 2003 to 2005. It's not the first time the two have seen a legal battle with each other. Fisher went after Hopkins in 2002 over a breach of contract, claiming the fighter owed him money for bouts iwth Felix Trinidad, Carl Daniels and Keith Holmes. The two would later settle the suit out of court. In 2003 they made up and Fisher resumed the role as Hopkins' trainer.

Fisher is claiming that Hopkins never paid him an agreed upon 15% of the pay-per-view revenue from the 2004 De La Hoya bout. The amount claimed that is owed is $70,255. For the title defense against Eastman in 2005, Fisher claims he is still owed $109,991 for the trainer's fee. And for the 2005 bout with Jermain Taylor, Fisher says he is owed $20,250.

Fisher is also looking to recover some money for damages caused by Hopkins disclosing details of their confidential contract terms to Philadelphia Daily News scribe Bernard Fernandez on December 20, 2005.
