Known as the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, has squashed the recent rumors floating around in Mexico that he was hospitalized due to alcohol and/or drug use. Chavez was hospitalized for nearly five days. After the doctors ran several tests, a bacteria infection was discovered as the cause of Chavez's recent illness.

"The truth is I was scared because I heard it was something with my heart. I had felt unwell since Omar's last fight but I didn't say anything. I finally went to the hospital, I passed the examinations that the doctors gave me on my heart and brain, and thank God everything went well, but my treatment is not over yet," Chavez told The Record.
