Undefeated 22 year old Daud Cino Yordan has avenged the defeat of his brother Yohannes Yordan last June 27 with a 10th round TKO over the Philippines Ricky Sismundo to retain his WBO featherweight interim title at the Twin Plaza Hotel in Jakarta.

With the win Yordan moves up to 25-0 with 19 knockouts while the loss drops S ismundo’s tally to 14-4 with 5 knockouts.

Sismundo held his own in the early going and connected with some solid hooks and in fact surprised Yordan and staggered him in the fifth round. But the Indonesian who is currently ranked No.2 featherweight by the WBO and No. 5 by the WBA  started to turn the fight around with his aggressive stance in rounds seven and eight where Sismundo was in trouble but was saved by the bell.

The Filipino tried desperately to stay out of trouble in round nine as Yordan nailed him with solid shots to the body forcing Sismundo to quit on his stool at the end of the round giving the referee no choice but to declare Yordan the winner by TKO.

In a post fight interview with Indonesian boxing writer Jeff Pamungkas, Yordan said he stayed close in the early rounds because he “wanted to try my ability and durability because so far I only fought quickly” meaning his fights ended early. In his last bout on July 27, Yordan won the interim title with a 2nd round KO of Robert Allanic of the Philippines.

Yordan’s clash with Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (23-2, 16 KO’s) last March ended in a no decision after rounds due to a bad cut suffered by the heavily-favored Guerrero in round two who, up to the time the fight was stopped was taking a beating,.

Yordan rocked Guerrero with a combination towards the end of round one and caught Guerrero with a right-left combination and then pulled the fighter towards him so he couldn’t punch. In one such instance their heads clashed with Yordan taking advantage by connecting with two solid rights to the head. Guerrero complained he couldn’t see because of the cut and the fight was waved off by the referee after consultations with the ringside physician.
