According to early indications, the pay-per-view numbers for Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton are looking very, very good. Pacquiao stopped Hatton in two rounds last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view numbers are being looked at by a lot of people who want to see if two fighters from outside of the United States are able to generate a huge buyrate number in the country.

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, says the early numbers appear to be heading to a huge buyrate between 1.6 and 2 million. Arum is obviously delighted with the news since the pre-fight estimates by industry experts had the fight doing a million buys.

"We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run," Arum told USA Today.

2007's Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. holds the record with 2.4 million buys.
