Former IBF junior lightweight champion Mzonke Fana wants another shot at newly re-crowned champion Malcolm Klassen who won the title in convincing fashion when he stopped veteran Cassius Baloyi for the first time in his career in the 7th round to regain the title he had lost to Fana by a split decision on April 20, 2007.

Well-known promoter Branco Milenkovic who is on a weeklong holiday with his family after the highly successful title fight last Sunday, Manila Time, says that the 35 year old Fana will be involved in a title eliminator with the winner to challenge Klassen.

Milenkovic said he was “waiting for the IBF to release the name of Fana’s opponent” while Fana’s manager, Zola Koti disclosed that the IBF is expected to make an announcement before the end of the week.

Koti told SuperSport that if everything goes well “we will know the name of the opponent and the date of the fight any day now” adding that “at long last the frustrating wait is over.”

He said Fana was in great shape and was confident he could regain the title he won from Klassen two years ago. Klassen was at one time being considered as an opponent for Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao.

Among the possible opponents in a title eliminator are Britain ’s Kevin Mitchell and American Robert Guerrero. Mitchell who is undefeated in 27 fights with 20 knockouts is ranked No. 3 by the IBF and Fana No. 4 while Guerrero, a former two-time IBF featherweight champion with 22 wins in 24 fights with 15 knockouts is at No. 5.

Fana who won a controversial split decision over the Philippines Randy Suico in a super featherweight title eliminator on May 28, 2004 in South Africa went on to challenge Marco Antonio Barrera and lost by a second round knockout.
