WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel would love to get in the ring with Vic Darchinyan to unify the entire 115-pound weight class. Darchinyan holds the WBA, WBC and IBF super flyweight titles. Montiel is moving up in weight on March 28 to face Eric Morel for the vacant WBO interim-bantamweight title. Montiel has claimed that a move in weight is due to the physical stress of making 115, but he appears to be very open to fight Vic at the weight.

"A few days ago, I said that I expected for negotiations to begin for a fight with Darchinyan, because to tell you the truth, I always thought that he was going to beat Arce. Now that he won, and feels that he is the executioner of Mexican opponents, then he can fight with me - champion against champion," Montiel told ESTO.

With Gerry Penalosa, the full WBO bantamweight champ moving up to fight the WBO's super bantamweight champ Juan Manuel Lopez on April 25, the winner of Montiel-Morel stands a good shot of being elevated to full champion and that would open up the door for Darchinyan to move up in weight to fight Montiel for a title at 118.
