In a follow-up to last week's odd bit of news. There were reports last Saturday, which came from Jakarta, Indonesia, indicating that a fight between WBA featherweight champion Chris John (41-0-1, 22 KOs) and Jackson Asiku (22-3, 12 KOs) was canceled after both of fighters no-showed the weigh-in for their scheduled fight on July 27. WBA Supervisor Alan Kim would tell BoxingScene.com that according to the rules of the WBA, the title should be vacated.

Sources have informed BoxingScene that a letter was sent to the WBA last Wednesday night, advising the sanctioning body that John vs. Asiku was canceled. By the following Thursday, Asiku had already left the country. There is a lot of confusion as to why a weigh-in was still held after a cancellation letter was sent to the WBA, and why a WBA supervisor was in attendance. One thing is for sure, John and his team will fight any attempt to have him stripped of the title.
