Philippine flyweight champion Federico Catubay has lost by a seventh round TKO to WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight champion Pramuansak Phosuwan while RP No. l ranked light flyweight Along Dinoy dropped a controversial decision to WBO light flyweight champion Kaichon Sor Vorapin in Uttaradith province in Thailand.

Phosuwan reportedly displayed superior skills and hammered Catubay into submission with vicious body shots that forced the Filipino champion to surrender at the start of round seven.

Pramuansak, a two-time Olympian who was undefeated as a pro has a record of 28-0-1 with 16 knockouts while Catubay was reported to have a 7-7-1, 4 KO record which clearly demonstrated another mismatch.

In what was described as a closely contested bout Kaichon suffered a cut on his forehead in the third round due to an accidental headbutt and the ring physician eventually stopped the bout early in round six. The Thai champion, according to reports from Bangkok, had a 49-46 margin on the scorecards of all three judges.

However, well known Cebu promoter and manager   Sammy Gello-ani said Kaichon “was about to fall after a series of punches when the referee decided to call a halt.” Gello-ani conceded that the Thai was leading on points when the fight was stopped but said “it was not a big cut but it bled a lot because the cut was on the forehead. That’s what they usually do in Thailand when their boy is losing They will stop the fight even if

the cut is small.”
