On Monday, January 1, at Differ Ariake in Tokyo there was a boxing function under the promotion of Kyoei Boxing Gym in Tokyo with a live broadcast of Abema TV, which is an internet television company for personal computer or smartphone users. The commentator was retired former super featherweight world champion Takashi Uchiyama.

There were a total of six fights in this boxing evening whose most attraction was the reappearance in the ring, after two and a half years of inactivity, of the former flyweight and super flyweight world champion Daiki Kameda (younger brother of Koki), 28 years old, who retired from boxing because of his retinal detachment in one eye. Thes last fight of Daiki Kameda took place in Corpus Christi, Texas.

On this card, Daiki faced off with four men (not boxers), one after another, in three round bouts. And there was a grand prize of ten million yen ($89,100) for the winner if they were capable of knocking Daiki out.

None of he men were able to get over the hump. Three of the men were knocked out and the fourth man was battered until the third and final round.

At the end of this New Year's Eve program at Differ Ariake in Tokyo, former three division world champion Koki Kameda makes a surprising statement that he will come out of retirement to return to the sport of boxing.

Koki has been out of the ring since October 2015 after his decision defeat loss to then WBA flyweight world champion Kohei Kono in Chicago.

Koki is a coach at Kyoei Boxing Gym in Tokyo with the license from the JBC (Japan Boxing Commission). There was a time when he was banned from fighting in Japan due to a rift with the JBC, but things are now in order and he would like to fight back his homeland - after not fighting in the country since July 2013.
