Retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) took a minor break from his vacation to drop a video on social media where the undefeated boxer took aim at his former opponent, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather, who won a close decision over De La Hoya in May of 2007, was angered by the Golden Boy's recent challenge to UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

Back in August, Mayweather snapped a two year retirement to score a tenth round stoppage of McGregor, who was making his professional debut as a boxer.

In the weeks leading up to the fight, De La Hoya was one of the biggest critics of the match.

He openly criticized the match and even penned an open letter where he urged fans to stray away from purchasing the pay-per-view. He felt the contest would damage boxing beyond repair.

The contest did the opposite, as it generated some huge business with 4 million pay-per-view buys - the second high PPV buyrate in history, with only Mayweather's 2015 mega-bout with Manny Pacquiao claiming the top spot.

It came as a surprise to everyone when De La Hoya appeared on an audio show last month and said he was willing to come out of retirement, to fight for the first time since 2008 in a clash with none other than McGregor.

“Wasn’t Oscar De La Hoya the same one that was talking about me fighting Conor McGregor and he was trying to protest and stop the fight? Now he’s trying to fight Conor McGregor. Is he a hypocrite or is he back on coke again? Man that boy still snorting them lines," Mayweather said.

De La Hoya stepped away from his position over the weekend, telling media members that he wasn't going to unretire.

In the fight itself, McGregor did very well in the early rounds and even won the first three to four rounds on many scorecards. Eventually he was broken down and gassed out as Mayweather stopped him.

There were widespread claims that Mayweather carried McGregor to make it a more fan-friendly fight for the live audience and the millions who purchased the pay-per-view - and now Mayweather says that's exactly what he did.

“Everybody is trying to protest the Mayweather-McGregor fight but I’m going to tell y’all the truth. You know I carried McGregor. You know I made it look good for y’all," Mayweather said.
