New York - After Felix Diaz (19-1, 9 KO’s) lost a controversial decision to Lamont Peterson, he went forward to secure what at the time was a mild upset of Sammy Vasquez.

Now the Dominican fighter will face his toughest test to date when he tries to dethrone unified WBO and WBC junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford (30-1, 20 KO’s) later tonight in an HBO televised fight.

The contest takes place at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Fighting Crawford is no easy task as he can box, punch, defend well, and also likes to switch from orthodox to southpaw without a moment's notice. Diaz feels that he is fully prepared for everything that Crawford can bring.

"I don’t have a problem with the way Crawford fights,” Diaz told BoxingScene.com through his Spanish interpreter. “We’ve had a good camp and fought guys that are right handed and left handed so it shouldn't be a problem.  It was a great training camp, I got the best people in my camp with Alex Ariza and Joel Diaz. This Saturday, you’ll see me shock the world.

Diaz will be the underdog but being a Dominican fighter in New York with a heavy contingent of Dominicans in New York, he may have some form of a home field advantage inside of MSG. Although he’s happy with having support in the building, he feels that Crawford will have his legion of fans and it will be a 50/50  crowd.

“I feel great to fight in front of my Dominican population on the East Coast,” stated Diaz. “I don't think its an advantage because I think Crawford will have the same support with his fan base but I’m grateful that the Dominican people will come out and support me. Crawford has a following.”

Diaz feels a win over for Crawford will do wonders for his career and feels it will be his best accomplishment of his career.

“Beating Crawford would mean just as much to me and the Dominican people as I did when I won the gold medal in the Olympics.”
