When the fight was first signed, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya felt that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez would overwhelm Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

After watching footage of Chavez Jr. in camp, and looking at some of his photos, the promoter is very impressed and no longer believes the contest will be a walk in the park.

The HBO Pay-Per-View fight is scheduled for May 6th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A catch-weight of 164.5-pounds has been agreed upon by both parties.

Chavez Jr. has built a bad reputation for himself when it comes to training camps. He's gone through several trainers in the last few years, including Freddie Roach, Robert Garcia and Joe Goossen. But now he is being trained by Hall of Fame coach Nacho Beristain, who is arguably the greatest trainer in the history of Mexican boxing.

Chavez Jr. has also brought on board conditioning coach Angel "Memo" Heredia, who is working his magic on Chavez's body.

"Chavez is looking better than ever, I mean this very sincerely," De La Hoya said to Albert Perez. "When we signed the fight, I thought that Canelo could overwhelm him. However, right now I think Canelo will have a difficult fight, but we have full confidence that he is ready. "

According to De La Hoya, the main incentive in this fight for Canelo, is being able to proclaim himself as the new king of Mexican boxing.

"It gives a lot of pride to say you are best in Mexico This fight is extremely important for both, both want to represent their country in a dignified way," De La Hoya said. "[Imagine], the one who loses has to go back to Mexico and answer his audience on why he lost. This is going to be very difficult for the loser. "
