Martin Gethin will come in as a late substitute to participate in his second fight in seven days.

The former British lightweight title challenger, who is now campaigning a division north, will see action in London.

Gethin (27-8-1, 11 KOs) was iced inside three of 12 scheduled rounds by Adam Little in a Commonwealth title eliminator in September but returned last weekend to claim a four-round points win over Liam Richards.

And now the 33-year-old, from Walsall, has been handed the opportunity to step in at late notice against John Wayne Hibbert.

Hibbert was originally set to face Tommy Coyle, a former Gethin foe, in a 12-round crossroads clash at Wembley’s SSE Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports, as part of Matchroom Boxing’s ‘Big City Dreams’ card.

But Coyle pulled out for “private” reasons and it was left down to the powers that be to get in a replacement for Hibbert (17-4, 11 KOs).

It appears, courtesy of social media, that Gethin is that replacement and Boxing Scene understands that the pair will clash over 10 rounds.

He tweeted: “Here we go again [with a] short notice fight. I’m back out on Saturday in Wembley.

“[I have] got to take the fight. You don’t often get these chances.”

The card features the professional debut of Irish amateur sensation Katie Taylor, the return of former IBF flyweight world title challenger Charlie Edwards and Martin J Ward’s first defence of the British super-featherweight crown against Ronnie Clark of Dundee.

Ted Cheeseman faces Lloyd Ellett in an eliminator for the English super-welterweight title and Danny Dignum makes his professional bow on a card which plays host to Ohara Davies’ challenge of ex-Hibbert foe Andrea Scarpa of Italy for the WBC Silver super-lightweight belt and Ben Hall’s meeting with Carson Jones for the vacant WBC International Silver super-welterweight title.

Meanwhile, Reece Bellotti meets Ian Bailey in an English featherweight title eliminator, while Jack Healy features and there is action for Conor Benn, Jake Ball, Felix Cash and Craig Richards.
