WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0 12 KOs) is more than ready to face IBO/IBF/WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) in a division-wide unification.

Saunders is presently preparing for the first defense of his title, against Russia’s Artur Akavov (16-1 7 KOs) on Frank Warren’s October 22 Motorpoint Arena Cardiff show, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

Saunders has been out of the ring since capturing the title last December with a decision win over Ireland's Andy Lee. There were several dates that fell apart, injuries and failed negotiations since the title victory.

Golovkin is in talking to make a mandatory defense on December 10th against challenger Daniel Jacobs in New York City.

But those negotiations are not going so well and may fall apart. That would leave Golovkin without a dance partner for his HBO televised date.

Golovkin has no problem with flying over to the UK to face Saunders. He went there last month to score a fifth round stoppage over IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook at the O2 Arena in London.

Saunders is planning to fight again in December - with or without Golovkin.

"Provided no injuries, provided no cuts [in my next fight], I would like to be out again in December," Saunders told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor.

"I'm willing to fight [Golovkin] in December. He's got the Jacobs fight, he's saying, lined up. And I think he'll go with that, and then hopefully in the new year that fight will happen. I'm very, very up for it. Put it this way, I see more than a handful of weaknesses there - which I think I can capitalize on. He may not bring the same fight again [as he did with Brook], but I know that I got certain things that he wont like."

Saunders is not paying attention to Golovkin's performance against Brook. He felt Golovkin didn't take Brook, who was moving up by thirteen pounds, that seriously as a threat.

"He seemed to get hit a lot, but he's in there with a guy probably thinking 'I'll just walk through him' and got caught and got a bit careless. Like I've said, nobody is invincible. I'll be a lot more shrewder and cuter than most that have been in the ring with him," Saunders said.
