World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman is suggesting a tournament  of top middleweights to find a challenger for WBC/IBO/IBF/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), and he's extending an invitation to the world Boxing Association and the International Boxing Federation.

Golovkin was the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs).  Canelo decided to vacate his title last week, when the WBC's purse bid deadline was rapidly approaching.

Because Golovkin held the WBC's interim-title, he was named as full champion.

Golovkin is now left without a WBC title challenger and the WBA is almost at the point of ordering him to face 'regular' champion Daniel Jacobs. GGG made his IBF mandatory left month when he knocked out Dominic Wade in two rounds.

Mauricio said:"I think this would be very interesting to discuss with the WBA and the IBF, as we are trying to come up with a procedure to find the next mandatory challenger. This is only an idea and a proposal. We don't know the status of the other two organizations."

Concerning the possibility of Canelo fighting Golovkin somewhere in time, Mauricio said - "I'm sure they will fight eventually. It's a fight which represents the best of boxing today. I hope they come to am agreement."

As for Canelo's decision to vacate the title, Mauricio said: "I'm not in a position to judge anyone. I respect his decision and his promoter's decision."
