Boxer Joseph Parker's points victory over Carlos Takam has left one leading contender distinctly underwhelmed and clamouring for a shot at the New Zealander.

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte - who was stopped by world champion Anthony Joshua in seven rounds in December - was not impressed with Parker's performance in Auckland.

"He did all right, but I'd love to fight him. I can see so many holes in his game," Whyte told The Sun.

"It was all about the win, but I don't think Takam is better than me right now. He's on his last legs, as he showed against Parker."

Whyte is the mandatory challenger for the British title. He underwent shoulder surgery after losing to Joshua and returns on the champion's undercard in London on June 25.

He told The Sun of Takam: "He never had that drive and desire to win the rounds. If he'd found an extra gear, he could have beaten Parker.

"Parker's power is definitely overrated. He's fought a lot of sandbags and knocked them over.

"I would like to fight him, 100 percent. I've seen things in his game to make me think I could knock him out."
