The never ending saga between welterweights Keith Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) and Shawn  Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) will drag on a bit longer. The long-awaited match-up - which was supposed to take place on March 12th at the Mohegan Sun - was scrapped after Thurman suffered injuries in an auto accident. It's not clear just when this fight will be re-scheduled.

But don't look for Shawn Porter to take a tune-up fight as he waits.

"We're planning on fighting Keith Thurman next, we continue to train in preparation for Keith Thurman,"said Kenny Porter, the father/trainer of the former IBF welterweight titlist, who last fought on June 20th versus Adrien Broner.

Broner is already moving into his second televised headliner since losing to Porter, who remains focused on capturing Thurman's WBA welterweight crown.

The question now is just when will this bout take place?

"We haven't been given a time frame, we're working on results of making out what's going on with Keith's injuries and then there's going to plan it after that,'' Porter told BoxingScene.com on Tuesday afternoon.

"I'm believing that we'll fight Keith before the end of summer."

Porter added,"I think they're going to be able to pull this off before the summer and if it happens that he wasn't healthy enough to go before the summer then we'd have to really take a look at the next move, next fight or something, considering something else at that point. But I think they'll get it done before the summer."

In the meantime the scuttlebutt is that Porter will engage in an exhibition match in Las Vegas in the next week or so.
