The last we saw of Shawn Porter was on the night of June 20th when he out-fought Adrien Broner over twelve rounds at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Since that point he's been idle as he's been forced to wait for a fight against Keith Thurman to materialize.

After months of waiting for that match-up to be finalized, March 12th was finally nailed down as the date for that clash at the Mohegan Sun.

But on Monday it was announced that Thurman would have to excuse himself from that fight after an auto accident. It was announced on Wednesday that this whole card would be scrapped and that Thurman-Porter would be re-scheduled.

Kenny Porter, the father and trainer of 'Showtime' stated on Monday that he wanted some proof of that actual injury but told BoxingScene.com earlier today,"We haven't had any communication about that."

Regardless, the fact is that Porter will have been out of the ring for more than a half-year (plus) by the time he fights again. You wonder, would he be better off now taking a tune-up before facing Thurman at this point, given his uncertain status?

"The question is: would it be a choice to fight someone else?"asked the elder Porter, who had gone up to the Big Bear Mountains in California to get some sparring in for the Thurman fight at the beginning of the week.

"I can't really speculate on the injury, what the injury is or what's the extent of it. Some people have been in small car accidents, get out of the car feeling fine and they wake up and their body is stiff.

"It's a difficult thing after a day or two. I'm just going to give them an opportunity for him to find out what's going on and come back to the table with me on a date."
