A world title contender and an unbeaten prospect will co-headline a fight card next month.

Lightweight contender Petr Petrov and welterweight Taras Shelestyuk will fight in separate bouts on April 3, Thompson Boxing General Manager and matchmaker Alex Camponovo told Boxingscene.com earlier this week.

The fight card will take place at the Omega Products International in Corona, a suburb of Los Angeles.

Shelestyuk (11-0, 8 KOs) will open up the ESPN2 'Friday Night Fights' telecast in a scheduled eight round bout. The 2012 Bronze Medalist at the London Olympic Games is co-promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing.

In his last bout on February 20, the Ukrainian-born fighter stopped Francisco Javier Reza in the third round.

Petrov (35-4-2, 17 KOs) was scheduled to fight Hank Lundy on January 16. The fight was cancelled when Lundy weighed four pounds above the lightweight limit of 135 pounds at the weigh-in the day before the fight.

Petrov has not fought since May 23, when he stopped Fernando Carcamo in the eighth round. With the win over Carcamo, Petrov won the 2014 Boxcino lightweight tournament title.

Petrov is originally from Russia, moved to Spain, and now lives and trains in the Los Angeles area.

No opponents have been announced yet for Petrov and Shelestyuk.
