Former champion Marcos "Chino" Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) will take a nice long rest and spend time with his family before he sits down to discuss his ring return. Maidana has fought three times, in three tough fights, in the last ten months.

He shocked Adrien Broner to take his undefeated record and WBA welterweight title last December. He came back in May and lost a twelve round majority decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr., and then face Mayweather again last Saturday and lost a twelve round unanimous decision.

"Now is the time to take a break and wait for a new opportunity to present itself," shared Maidana's advisor Sebastian Contursi. "God willing, there are big names to face next year, as I humbly believe that Chino has shown that he belongs at the top level."

"In private, we've talked about Manny Pacquiao, a rematch with Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Juan Manuel Marquez - who are all first class fighters. There is also the opportunity to fight in Argentina, where Marcos has gained popularity and has the support of the people which we're really grateful for."

"Anyway, we'll have to sit down and talk about all of these possibilities with [team adviser] Al Haymon. But, as I said, now Chino will take a break for a few months to get a well deserved recharge of the batteries, as he is still young and in good condition."
