WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is not going to rush a potential mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fresh from his knockout victory over Zab Judah, the British star is planning to return in the month of December, in the United States, with the winner of Erik Morales-Jorge Barrios as the likely opponent.

After his bout in December, Khan plans to move to the welterweight division in early 2012, but Mayweather, who faces WBC champ Victor Ortiz on September 17, is not going to be his first opponent. Before facing Mayweather, he wants to correct a few minor mistakes with his trainer Freddie Roach. At this moment, Khan views the fight as a 50-50 proposition, but he wants to face Mayweather when he's 100% sure of victory.

"There are a lot of little improvements that we need to make. Maybe slowing down a little bit, not making mistakes, and maybe cleaning up the defense and not lunging in with big shots. I'm just going to sit down with Freddie [Roach] and watch the tapes and he'll tell me what I did right and what I did wrong. And when the fight comes with Mayweather, hopefully everything will be perfect and I'll have more experience," Khan said.

"I'm not saying that I'm not in the same class. I want to be 100% ready and 100% confident and I want to walk in the fight and be 100% sure that I can beat him. Right now it's 50-50 fight in my mind that I can beat him but I want to be 100% sure that I can beat him."
