Hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach is pretty confident that his fighter, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 31KOs), can deal with WBA/IBO champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs). Golovkin is set to defend his titles on July 26th against former champion Daniel Geale.

Roach says he never watched Golovkin fight and doesn't appear to be too intimidated by his deadly reputation. Cotto made a big splash on the middleweight division on Saturday night, when he blew out lineal champion Sergio Martinez to capture the WBC crown in ten rounds.

"I hear a lot of good things about Golovkin. I hear he's a great puncher. I hear he's a great fighter, but you know I've never seen him fight and I'm a fight fan. What was his last fight on UHF or something like that? C'mon, I think we can hang with a guy like that. I hear he's good. I know HBO is interested in him and they signed him to a multi-fight deal, so he must be impressing somebody, but again I've never seen him fight so I can't give you a real good answer," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
