Mexico's Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson, along with his manager Jose Luis Bueno, discussed his plans for 2013.  The fighter from Chetumal, Mexico holds a record of 25 wins, 23 KO’s and 2 defeats. Thompson will defend his WBC International Silver super featherweight title on January 19th against an opponent to be announced in Tabasco, Mexico.

According to Thompson, there is already an agreement to face the full WBC champion “Platano” Diaz (37-9-2, 17KOs) on April 6th.

“I will fight on January 19th in Tabasco and if I win that bout I will be ready to fight against current WBC super featherweight champion Gamaliel “Platano” Diaz. During the past WBC Convention it was agreed that Gamaliel and I would fight on April 6,” Thompson said.

Thompson also said he’s proud of his high knockout ratio and wants to continue stopping opponents inside the distance.

“I know winning by knockout is not always a good thing, because you get used to winning your fights early. Sometimes you face harder opponents and that makes you realize the caliber of your opposition, but I have the enough experience to handle that," Thompson said.
