WBO/IBF junior featherweight champion Nonito Donaire is currently winding down his training camp for his October 13th showdown against Toshiaki Nishioka.  Donaire appeared on a recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show to talk about the upcoming fight that many pundits feel will decide who is the best fighter in the division.

"Camp is good. Of course every camp has that hurdle we have to get over. We are mentally ready for this fight. We are through the difficult parts so we are good," Donaire said in explaining how he has fared in his training for the fight.

The Filipino Flash said that he has great respect for Nishioka and that he has always viewed the Japanese fighter as  the top dog in the super bantamweight division.  Donaire said that he will be ready for whatever style Nishioka decides to use.

"We chose this fight. We've been wanting to fight him since we got to 122. When I was at 118 the guy we wanted was Montiel. At 122 it's Nishioka.  He has good power and decent speed. We are ready for him," explained Donaire.

"He definitely has power. Whatever style he comes with I will be ready. If I need to counter we counter. If he wants to see who is the toughest we can bang. If we have to box him we can box him. We can fight however he wants to fight," he continued.

Donaire has experimented in the ring in recent fights. He fought out of a southpaw stance in the opening rounds of his fight against Hernan "Tyson" Marquez and also admiited to experimenting in his two most recent fights against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and Jeffrey Mathebula.  He knows that he can't afford to take those chances against a fighter as accomplished as Nishioka.

"I can't mess around with this guy. That's pretty much what it is. We have to take him seriously. You won't see what you've seen from me lately. We are done with the experimental phase," Donaire concluded.
