Former champion and current junior welterweight contender Humberto Soto (57-7-2, 34KOs) is looking for a possible return on April 21 in Mexico, according to Antonio Lozada of Baja Boxing, who promote Soto with Golden Boy Promotions. Golden Boy's CEO, Richard Schaefer, advised BoxingScene.com several days ago that his company is planning a big event on April 21 and two locations in Mexico are being considered as potential sites.

"Abner Mares will be fighting on April the 21st. We sat down with his team, this week. We are looking at potential opponents. It could be part of a tripleheader, with Anselmo Moreno also on it, and Jorge Linares," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

Regarding the possible opponent for Soto, Lozada was advised of two possible names, Lucas Matthysse (29-2, 27KOs) and Johan Perez (15-0, 12KOs). Lozada is going to confirm the information.

"We're confirming this information. There's nothing concrete yet, but I can say that 2012 will be the year that Humberto Soto will have the opportunity to be matched in the ring with the important names and secure his place as a great champion," said Lozada.
