Former champion Hozumi Hasegawa held a press conference in Kobe, Japan on Thursday and vowed revenge on WBO/WBC bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel.

Last month, Montiel was being outboxed for three rounds before he caught Hasegawa with a hard hook in the fourth round that hurt him badly in their unification match.

Hasegawa was hurt and the fight was stopped when he backed himself against the ropes and Montiel continued to hurt him with direct power punches. Montiel's initial hard hook broke Hasegawa's jaw.

At the press conference, Hasegawa made a public challenge to Montiel for a rematch and refuses to leave the bantamweight division until the rematch happens.

"I will get back what has been taken away from me. That is what I want to think about most," Hasegawa said. "I don’t want to go out a loser. I want Montiel to return the belt to me"
