On the third day of World Boxing Association's ongoing convention at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta - WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, who chairs the world championship committee announced that a group decision was made to downgrade Panamanian cruiserweight Guillermo Jones to the status of "champion in recess" due to his long inactivity in defending the WBA crown (since November 2011).

Jones was scheduled to defend his title against WBA ranked #15 Andres Taylor in Venezuela on October 27, but the fight was canceled due to an alleged injury suffered by Jones - and it never officially reported to the WBA.

Also, several months ago the WBA ordered Jones (38-3-2, 30KOs) to face interim-cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18KOs) in a mandatory fight.

Mendoza announced that Lebedev will be elevated to the status of "regular" WBA cruiserweight champion.

Jones was warned that if he doesn't see action in the next six months, then he would be fully stripped of his world title.
