Ward vs Froch is Heading To December 17th in AC

WBC super middleweight Carl Froch will have his eagerly-awaited Super Six final bout with WBA king Andre Ward rescheduled to December 17 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Froch had seen the biggest fight of his life called off -which had been due to take place on October 29 - last Friday after Ward announced on Twitter that he sustained a cut in sparring.

"The fight is back on for December 17 in Atlantic City," said Danny Brener, VP of Communications for Goossen Tutor, Ward's promoter, to Ryan Maquinana of BoxingScene.com.  "We were able to work out a date.  A press release should be coming within the hour."

Froch, who is already in fighting trim at no more than two pounds above the super-middleweight limit, is irritated by Ward, who has been given a privileged passage through the Super Six.

The former Olympic gold medallist has been granted home advantage in California for all of his four fights in the tournament thus far. Now his cut is causing complications for all concerned, including TV paymasters Showtime. Froch, meanwhile, has traveled to Europe and the U.S. for three of his four bouts and has to go to Atlantic City for the final, which will also unify the WBC and WBA world title.

The curse of the Super Six? Three of the six contestants, Taylor, Dirrell, and Kessler, pulled out o fthe tournament with injury halfway through. The event, already elongated, has been protracted further by delays to some of the fights including, now, the final itself.
