Wanheng Menayothin Defends WBC Strap on March 2nd

Wanheng Menayothin (40-0, 15KOs) will be defending his WBC minimumweight championship against Japan's Go Odaira (12-4-3, 1KO) on March 2rd in Chonburi, Thailand.

The undefeated champion, 29-years-old, won the crown after defeating Mexican slugger Oswaldo Novoa by knockout in the ninth round. Since then, he's piled up four additional wins and defended the title in dominating fashion against Jeffrey Galero, Jerry Tomgdan and Young Bae Gil.

Odaira,  31-years-old, is a former Japanese champion and will have his second world title fight. He insists he's doubly motivated for this opportunity.

In 2014 he challenged countryman Katsunari Takayama in a bout for the vacant IBF/WBO world titles. He was knocked out in seven rounds at the Bodymaker Colosseum in Osaka, Japan. He came back the following year with a ten round decision win over Yutaka Sowano.

I wish Wanheng would step it up and start seeking some real opposition. He's good enough not to have to hand pick his opponents.
