New York, New York – The Velasquez Twins got their pro boxing careers off to spectacular starts last night in the Big Apple.  The ballyhooed brothers from Puerto Rico, who combined to win over 100 amateur fights, both won their featherweight pro debuts.  Juan Carlos Velasquez (1-0,KO1) landed a crushing combination of jabs to knockout Stephan Arnold in the first round of a card at the Roseland Theatre.  And Carlos Ivan Velasquez (1-0) relentlessly out punched and outscored Manuel Angulo to win his four-round bout in a unanimous decision. DRL’s Director of Boxing, Luis De Cubas sitting ringside commented “These kids are explosive and exciting to watch, they share many similarities including a confidence and swagger in the ring that says contender.” 

DRL middleweight  Peter “Kid Chocolate“ Quillin was also impressive on this card. Quillin made quick work of opponent Steve Walker, landing a stunning left hook 38 seconds into the fight to win by first round Knockout. Quillin’s record is now 9-0, with eight victories coming by knockout.

INSIDE THE DRL ROPES - The vacant IBF Super Middleweight Title will be on the line on Saturday March 3 when Alejandro Berrio 25-4-0, (KOs 24) of Columbia steps into the ring to face the unbeaten Sergej Stieglitz  , a native of Ejsk, Russia 29-0-0,(KOs 19) in Rostock, Germany.  These two international Super Middleweight Stars have gone to battle in a ring in Germany before; December 3, 2005, or 16 months ago to be exact. A date and devastating outcome Berrio, who lost by TKO when the bout was suddenly stopped in Stieglitz’s training residence of Magdeburg, Germany in the 11th round has never forgotten. “ I ‘ve not been the same fighter since, nor will I ever be again,” quipped Berrio during one of his final training and sparring sessions.. “That fight left me hungry and with plenty to prove someday who the real champion is, that time is now.” Added Berrio
