Trainer, Warren See Very Big Things For Daniel Dubois

Since turning professional just over a year ago, Daniel Dubois has developed a strong relationship with trainer Martin Bowers.

After seven outings, the Heavyweight prospect has stopped all of his opponents. Six of those foes were dispatched before the third round.

The 20-year-old is next in action on April 14th in London, and Bowers is happy with his progress. "The matches have been great for him. He's been taken at a nice pace," he said on the latest BoxNation Podcast.

"I think the match-making's been perfect. If it continues like that and we're patient with him - and we give him a chance to grow into the professional that he can be - I think we'll have a good journey."

Dubois may be quiet outside of the ring, but he possesses a vicious persona inside of the ropes, living up to his 'Dynamite' nickname.

"He's a pleasure to have in the gym, but you don't get a lot out of Daniel. He does his work, he's happy to do his work, and he's got one goal - he wants to be a fighter, he doesn't want to be anything else," revealed the London-based coach.

"Believe it or not, he's quite gentle in the gym, he's got a nice, calm personality. Obviously fight night he changes, he's different, that's his job!"

Promoter Frank Warren does not want to rush the Greenwich giant, who only had a handful of senior amateur bouts, and Bowers is pleased with the timing so far.

"I think he's still in the early stages and I think he'll get the rounds as he goes along. He's doing exactly what he should be doing at this stage. The fights are getting progressively harder, and that will show as he goes along. Just let it unfold and I think we'll enjoy the ride," he added.

Also on episode 14 of the BoxNation Podcast, Terry Flanagan's trainer Steve Maylett talks Maurice Hooker, plus Sergey Kovalev and Dmitry Bivol's latest wins are analysed.
