By Rafael Soto

Srisaket, THAILAND - Mexico's Tomas "Gusano" Rojas is in Srisaket, Thailand where on Friday he will defend the super flyweight championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC) when he faces local Suriyan Sor Rungvisai. Rojas (36-12-1, 24 KOs) will make the third defense of his title in his second run as world champion Sor Rungvisai (18-5-1, 7 KOs).

"I'm already acclimated to the time change. I arrived five days ago, we are at weight and waiting for the weigh-in on Thursday, but we are extremely well prepared mentally and physically. I'm doing this for Mexico, for my people, and I will return with the belt that's for sure," said Rojas.

Rojas, with the advantage in height, reach and expertise, is on the verge of a big fight, as he looks for potential super flyweight unification bouts and a second divisional title by rising to bantamweight. Meanwhile, Sor Rungvisai, who isan  Asian champion and has won three fights by knockout this year, will look to upset the odds with his opportunity to become champion.

The experience of Rojas, 31 years old and with 49 professional fights, and with the momentum, and Sor Rungvisai's youth of 22 years and 24 fights in professional boxing, will clash in what will be world championship fight number 94 on Thai soil, but only the fourth in the super flyweight division.
