Thurman-Collazo, Harrison-Nelson PBC Doubleheader

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a Premier Boxing Champions doubleheader is being put together for July 11th, as part of the PBC series on ESPN.

In the main event, WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) would defend his title against former beltholder Luis Collazo (36-6, 19KOs).

Thurman is coming back from headlining the PBC premier on NBC, where he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Robert Guerrero. Collazo lost a decision to Amir Khan on the Mayweather-Maidana undercard last May, and then came back last month to stop Chris Degollado in three rounds.

The co-feature would be a junior middleweight battle, with Tony Harrison (21-0, 18KOs) taking another step up in class as he faces battle tested Willie Nelson (23-2-1, 13KOs). Harrison has knocked out his last ten opponents. Nelson returns from a decision loss to Vanes Martirosyan last October.

This will be the debut show of the PBC series on ESPN. BoxingScene was told the card is going to take place in Thurman's backyard of Florida.
Sub-mediocre card but kinda crazy that Keith Thurman is fighting on ESPN. He would've been thought to be too good for that sort of stage in the old boxing model. I like the model for building stars but Collazo can…
Unless Khan looses which he won't, he's most likely getting the fight with Mayweather. He has the biggest fan base out of Brook and Garcia
If Brook wins in style (in front of a raucous 20,000+ crowd at O2), I…

Why are people acting as though Haymon fighters have any control at all over who they fight? Have you seen a Haymon contract? No minimum purses, no minimum number of fights, just the words "best efforts". What that means is…
