Héctor Zapari of Zapari Boxing has informed BoxingScene.com that Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez (29-0) is ready for the top fighters in the super middleweight division. Zurdo is promoted by Top Rank and managed by Zapari and his father Jesus.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn recently stated that if an agreement can be reached for Carl Froch to face Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. that there is a good chance James DeGale fill face Ramirez for Froch's title which would likely have to be vacated if the Brit faces Chavez. DeGale is ranked #1 by the IBF while Ramírez is ranked #3.
Zapari said that he hopes Chávez is able to resolve his dispute with Top Rank because Ramírez is also interested in an all Mexican showdown with Chávez.
"Zurdo is ready to face anyone. Whether it's DeGale or anyone else, hopefully Junior fixes his problems with Top Rank soon so he can fight Zurdo. That is the fight we want the most. We want to be the best super middleweight and we want Zurdo to make history by becoming the first Mexican to be a champion at 168," said Zapari who issued a warning to Chávez.
"While Chávez is on the sidelines, not fighting, Zurdo is working hard to beat the best fighters out there. Zurdo wants to be the first Mexican champion at 168 and we hope that Chávez trains hard because Zurdo is coming for him," Zapari told BoxingScene.com.
Ramírez is scheduled to return to the ring on November 15th against Fulgencio Zúñiga in a special doubleheader televised by HBO2.
