Former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (26-2-1, 16KOs) is looking to return to the ring for the first time since his narrow decision loss to WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman in June. The fight, which took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, is considered by most fans and experts alike as one of the top fights of the year.
BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Porter and his father Kenny to get an update on his career.
"I don't know at this time. We want the rematch (with Thurman) but outside of that rematch - we want something big. Whether that is Danny Garcia and going for the WBC or something like that we want another belt," said Shawn.
Garcia had been linked to a fight against Andre Berto but now appears headed towards a clash against John Molina.
So with Berto (31-4, 24KOs) potentially be left out in the cold, would the Porters be interested in facing him?
"We would take that fight. We would take a Danny Garcia fight. I think everybody knows we aren't ducking anybody. We just need a dance partner right now," Kenny responded.
"We need somebody to step up and take the phone call, take that fight. If Berto doesn't have a dance partner we would gladly take that fight. Same with Keith Thurman. We want that rematch and want those big fights."
