Team Maidana Would Love Danny Garcia in July, August

By Miguel Rivera

Former two-division world champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) is right now looking at a ring return in July or August, according to his adviser Sebastian Contursi. He denied reports of a rumored return date of June 20th, but did confirm their desire to get WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia in the ring.

Garcia is facing Lamont Peterson at a catch-weight of 143-pounds on April 11th. It is expected to be the final match before Garcia makes a full move to the welterweight division.

"We have nothing for now [regarding a date]. That June date is not true," Contursi said to ESPN Deportes. "For example, we would like a fight against Danny Garcia in July or August. These are the types of opponents we are aiming for, but for now there is nothing firm [on Maidana's return]."
