Team Arroyo: If We Beat Chocolatito - Then Rematch or Estrada

By Reynaldo 'El Papi Chulo' Sanchez

On April 23 at The Forum in Los Angeles, California, undefeated fighter and currently ranked as the #1 pound for pound boxer in the world, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, will face the dangerous Puerto Rican fighter McWilliams Arroyo. Gonzalez will defend his WBC flyweight title in the bout.

At the "Horomico Boxing School" in Hormiguero, Puerto Rico - Arroyo was supported by his coach Anthony Otero and had a ten sparring session with Jose "Chiquiro" Martinez.

Through Martinez, we were able to speak with coach Anthony Otero, and then chatted with Arroyo What can you tell us about McWilliams' training camp for this fight against Gonzalez?

AO: We are training hard; we know we face a great fighter like Gonzalez. We are focused on our work to surprise the world and achieve another world title for Puerto Rico. Many people believe that the fight with Gonzalez is very tight. What is your opinion on the outcome of this battle?

AO: I know that "Chocolatito" Gonzalez is a great fighter, but Arroyo is also an excellent boxer, and get to that fight he will give us everything to achieve victory. If Arroyo manages to beat Gonzalez on April 23, what would be your next step?

AO: We have waited for this opportunity to fight for a world title for long. And then we win the title, we are willing to fight anyone, why not even a rematch with Gonzalez or a fight against [WBA/WBO champion Juan Francisco] Estrada. What do you think about this commitment against Gonzalez?’

MA: I'm well focused for this fight, I had an excellent training camp, we worked hard to get here, and hopefully win that fight in April 23with "Chocolatito". Have you done some special work for this fight vs Gonzalez?

MA: Not really, we are training harder than ever, I think this is the biggest fight of my career and we have a responsibility to do so. What do you think are your best tools to win this fight?

MA: We are working on all aspects, we cannot say that we will use, we'll see on April 23rd when we are face to face with Gonzalez in the ring.

"If", already shows the mentality they have. Not when, but if. They already lost. You don't have to be Amir Khan with your confidence, but some level of confidence is good. Too much of anything will hurt you, too little…
