Antonio Tarver says Danny Green could become the first man to cut him in his distinguished boxing career but he's warned Australia's IBO cruiserweight champion he will be playing a game of hide-and-seek in Wednesday's world title bout.

A confident Tarver has even offered Green some advice, telling the Australian he needs to stay cool and calm as he can't fight in a 'mad' frame of mind.

He compared the quality of his current preparation to the one before his most famous win, in 2004, when he became the first man to stop Roy Jones Jr.

The 42-year-old American challenger and former light heavyweight multi-world titleholder looked sharp on Saturday in a public workout in Sydney.

Strutting his stuff in an inner-city gym, Tarver talked up his prospects against Green.

He said it was "scary" how good he felt and that he wasn't getting tired.

But Tarver admits he might have to weather some punishment from renowned power puncher Green.

"I'm geared to take some shots. I know I have to take some shots so, for the first time, I might get cut - for the first time, I might got swollen," Tarver said on Saturday.

"But at the end of the day, I'm stretching Danny Green.

"When I look at the preparations for this fight, there's only one fight that puts me in mind of where I'm at mentally and physically and that's Roy Jones II."

Tarver wasn't concerned unflattering remarks from his veteran trainer Jim Williams about Green's style might fire up the champion.

"I want him fired up. I want him coming in there dog mad, because he can't fight me being mad," Tarver said.

"He's going to have to be cool and calm under fire. His aggressiveness is going to get him knocked out, trust me.

"What Danny Green thinks is I am going to be a stationary target. He's got another thing coming.

"He's going to have to play hide-and-seek all night long with me."

While his camp have taken note of complaints form Jones Jr about the wraps Green used on his hands for their fight in late 2009, Tarver expressed confidence the IBO and their president Ed Levine would ensure fair conditions for their bout at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

"He (Levine) knows my concerns and if Danny Green comes in the ring with a pair of brass knuckles, just give me a set," Tarver joked.
