Plaza de Toros, Juriquilla, Mexico - A very heated event took place, featuring a theme where Mexican boxers were matched against their Filipino rivals. The card - “Mexico vs. Philippines” - saw a great main event where Filipino Sylvester Lopez (17-3-1, 13 KOs) stopped Oscar Ibarra (27-5, 18 KOs) of Mexico in the eight round of a WBC super flyweight eliminator. In a back and forth struggle, Lopez turned up the heat in the eight round when he trapped Ibarra against the ropes and unleashed his power shots until the referee stepped in.
Lopez, the WBC's silver champion, becomes the mandatory challenger to full champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai of Thailand, who recently upset Mexico's Tomas Rojas for the title.
Mexico's Dante “Crazy” Jardon (19-1, 17 KOs), the WBC's Youth super featherweight champion, stopped Filipino boxer Ricky Sismundo (28-6, 8 KOs) in the seventh round.
Super flyweight Edgar Jimenez (14-5-1, 10 KOs) of Mexico won a ten round unanimous decision over Juanito Rubillar (48-18-7, 23 KOs). The scores were 99-90, 98-91 and 98-92.
