Errol Spence Jr. expects to beat Shawn Porter even easier than he defeated Mikey Garcia.

Spence expressed that intention directly to Porter during a face-to-face interview with FOX Sports’ Heidi Androl, which was released through the network’s social media platforms. The 29-year-old Spence (25-0, 21 KOs) and the 31-year-old Porter (30-2-1, 17 KOs) have signed contracts to meet in a welterweight title unification fight on an undetermined date.

“It’s not really no difference,” Spence said regarding facing Porter, as opposed to Garcia. “Me, personally, I’m looking to make it easier than the Mikey Garcia fight. So, you know, I hear a lot of talking from him and his father [Ken Porter], and how they been talking. So, I’m definitely gonna put on a showcase performance. And I’m looking to put on a great performance, and hopefully a stoppage.”

Spence, the IBF welterweight champion, dominated Garcia in their 12-round championship match March 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) moved up two weight classes, however, to challenge the taller, stronger Spence.

Porter, the WBC welterweight champ, has basically been a welterweight for the past nine years. He has lost only 12-round decisions to former IBF champ Kell Brook (38-2, 26 KOs) and WBA champ Keith Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs, 1 NC).

“I think he knows this is not an easy fight for him,” Porter said. “He knows – you know. I’m not gonna talk about you like you’re not right here. You know this is not easier than Mikey Garcia. You know this ain’t gonna be no wash. You know you gonna have to get ready. And I will be ready.”

Spence accused Porter of ducking him both before and after he beat Garcia in a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View main event.

“I think everybody out there knows I wasn’t ducking Errol,” Porter said. “Errol knows I wasn’t ducking him. He knows it’s just a matter of time, as I have said before. And that time is coming real soon.”

The date and the venue for Spence-Porter likely will be announced within the next couple weeks.
