Shane Mosley Injured, Kurbanov Clash Pushed To September 9

By Igor Lazorin, tass

It was revealed by lead promoter Alexey Titov of RCC Boxing Promotion that former three division world champion Shane Mosley (49-10-1, 41 KOs) has suffered a hand injury in training, and as a result the promoter has been forced to postpone the veteran scheduled fight with fast rising Russian junior middleweight prospect Magomed Kurbanov (10-0, 8 KOs).

The fight was scheduled for May 5 in Yekaterinburg. The fight already has a new date booked, and will take place in the same venue but now on September 9.

The two boxers will collide in a twelve round bout for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental junior middleweight championship.

Mosley was at one time considered to be the top pound for pound fighter in the sport.

He appeared to retire back in 2013, when he was stopped Australian veteran Anthony Mundine, but then in 2015 he returned to the ring and won by way of knockout in a rematch with Nicaraguan brawler Ricardo Mayorga.

After the knockout of Mayorga, he picked up another victory over Venezuelan Patrick Lopez. He then tried to land fights with two world champions, but both refused.

On May 28 of last year, Mosley suffered a twelve round decision loss to then WBA interim-welterweight champion David Avanesyan of Russia. Mosley has not fought since the loss.

He has the opportunity to get back in the mix when he takes on Kurbanov, a young rising puncher who turned pro in June of 2015. The Russian boxer fought five times in 2016. A victory over Mosley would be a big statement for his career, as the future Hall of Famer was very competitive in losing to Avanesyan.

Mosley, who is now 45 years old, is 3-5-1 in his last nine fights dating back to 2010.

"As long as I feel fine, I don't plan on finishing my career. I don't know how much longer I can hold fights, but certainly I don't plan to finish my career in May. Boxing is my whole life," Mosley said.
Seems a lil crazy all the boxers well into their 40's still fighting. You'd have never convinced me 20 years ago that guys like Mosley, RJJ & Toney were still boxing into their 40's back than.
Mosley and Toney…

Mosley is going to end up in a coffin if he continues to fight

This promotion streams their fights on youtube in HD so at least this would've been free. I don't buy the concern trolling by boxing fans. If this is what Mosely wants to do then so be it. To date he…
